Plein-Air Painting and Walk from Ravine to Casa Loma
Discover autumn’s colors on a guided walk through Nordheimer Ravine to Casa Loma, where you’ll learn to see the city like a plein-air painter and create your own quick landscape masterpiece.
Time & Location
Nov 01, 2025, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Toronto, ON, Canada
About the event
Join us for a warm-up walk through Nordheimer Ravine and up to Casa Loma for stunning views of downtown from the top of Spadina. We will be learning to observe our landscape through a plein-air painter's eyes and learn to create a quick composition. If you came last time, this time will look different and maybe you will notice something new in the autumn hues.
This session is beginner friendly, and all materials will be provided! Plein-air art is all about observation and change and we will have some prompts and discussions about how change is part of what we observe as well as moments for us to learn new things about how we see the land in a more urban context.
Snacks are encouraged. We will begin at St. Clair West Station and end just a block north of Dupont Station.
About your instructors:
Christie Wong is an illustrator and creative co-producer for entrepreneurs and third space stewards. Her current practice explores the shifting landscapes of care, community and our inner gardens. Her illustration work explores tiny worlds that encompass many worlds; an echo of how she experiences the world through her inner gardens.
Anson Ng is a contemporary landscape painter whose practice explores the intersections of Canadian wilderness and Chinatowns, positioning both as integral components of the national landscape. Through themes of nature, seasonality, and their ability to reshape our understanding of everyday life, Ng’s practice examines the complexities and value of shared environments for community building and belonging.
Note: The cost of this hike includes the materials and compensation for our instructors.
